*Responsibilities
The HGST Enterprise System Integration Group is seeking a system integration engineer to work in our System Integration Test (SIT) Lab located in Rochester, MN. The SIT Lab is a dynamic environment where test engineers work closely with drive development engineers and our customers' engineers during the process of bringing a drive to market. The SIT Lab supports the full HGST hard disk and solid state drive lines as well as HGST-branded products.

This is a technical position for a team which verifies the compatibility of enterprise (server) drives in our customers' operating environments. System integration engineers work closely with the product lead engineer, development engineers, and our customers' engineers to ensure successful bring-up, development, and verification of the product. System integration engineers are responsible for configuring the drives and systems for test, then monitoring and analyzing drive logs, system logs, bus signals, etc. to determine test status. Problems will be isolated, analyzed, and documented as they occur; this may require development of unique test scripts to exercise the drive and system in the area of problem occurrence. Responsibilities also include the creation of test schedules, writing reports, and communicating written and verbal status.

*Responsibilities
Provide front line customer support for qualification activity of Hard Disk Drives into Enterprise Customer platforms. Primary activities involve project managing all aspects of qualifications including microcode customization definition, qualification sample management, schedule definition and tracking and problem resolution when issues arise. Will be expected to generate weekly customer issue packages from multiple sources, assemble presentation, present to customer and drive meeting actions. Problem solver that owns all customer issues involving (procuring capital equipment, communicating engineering changes, managing microcode issue, addressing increased failure rates, generating detailed qualification plans and schedules, reporting customer status, working drive performance deficiencies and more).

*Qualifications
Must have detailed knowledge of Hard Disk Drives (HDD). Previous experience as customer support engineer. Self-starter that needs little direction. Ability to represent the customer across all areas of the business. Strong project management skills who can multiplex on several complex issues at once. HGST's System Integration Technology (SIT) Lab located in Rochester, MN is seeking electrical engineering, computer engineering, and computer science students. We have full-time paid internship/co-op opportunities available for our 2013 May-December session, with exact dates flexible based on school schedules. The necessary background for this position includes HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, C#, and MySQL. Exposure to Linux operating systems is preferred. Proficiency in written Japanese is a plus.
