Responsibilities
This senior level engineer will oversee the development of device drivers for our new PCIe SSD next-generation SSD storage products applying industry standard protocols. This person would help create the work definition, oversee the architecture and development, and lead the verification work of the drivers and associated certification. This will include providing accurate and timely scheduling and resource information to team leads, managers, and outside consultants. The ability to meet scheduled commitments within this context is essential to the success of these products.

Qualifications

MS/BSEE, MS/BSCE, or MS/BSCS with 10+ years of experience in storage device driver design and verification.

Strong knowledge of storage device driver development and design.

Knowledge of PCIe, NVMe and SCSIe protocols is a plus.

Strong knowledge of structured code development methods and debug techniques.

Strong communication, technical management and organizational skills are required.

Ability to solve problems as part of multi-site organization and cross functional team.

Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate experience, interest and aptitude in both analytical and practical aspects of the above topics as well as HDD Firmware architecture and implementation and a clear understanding of magnetic recording technology.

Hitachi GST's Test & Reliability Engineering (TRE) Lab located in Rochester, MN is seeking an engineer to be part of a team which tests the reliability of hard disk and solid state drives. Responsibilities include configuring the drives and systems for test, and then monitoring drive logs, system logs, bus signals, etc. to determine test status. Since the drives are still under development, many firmware and hardware problems may be encountered - the engineer will analyze, isolate and document problems as they occur. Assist in failure recreation & fix validation. Communication of test status and issues.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates would have a B.S. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science and/or related field. Ability to setup complex computer systems and understand system error logs. The SIT Lab performs system level testing on Hitachi GST's entire product line of hard disk drives (HDD) and solid state drives (SSD). The person will be responsible for performing product performance benchmarking and competitive analysis. The SIT Lab is a highly interactive and dynamic environment where engineers work closely with Development, Customer Technical Support, Marketing, and our customer's technical teams. During development, the person will assess drive performance vs. design targets and help firmware and servo teams identify fixes and track improvements. The person will procure and benchmark competitive drives, analyze competitor data, and identify best-of-breed performance and industry trends. The person will be responsible for developing and maintaining scripts and spreadsheet macros used for data analysis and reporting. Finally, the person is expected to create test schedules, write reports, and communicate written and verbal status.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates will possess a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science and 3-5 years of hands-on experience in the hard disk drive or computer storage industry. Key technical experience/skills include understanding of storage device performance benchmarks, the ability to perform detailed failure analysis on SATA and SAS interface failures and use of lab equipment including oscilloscopes and analyzers.
