7-pin Serial-ATA connector
Instead of and IDE interface connector, the Serial-ATA drive uses an 7-pin Serial-ATA (SATA) connector.
Power connectors
You may use the traditional 4-pin 5V DC power connector or the newer 3.3V 15-pin power connector. As shown below, you may safely use one power cable or the other, but not both.
The newer 15-Pin power connector is hot-swappable, which is an advantage in RAID environments. Otherwise, the advantages of the newer connector are marginal for most users. We suggest you use the appropriate connector that matches your power supply. The newest power supplies accommodate 15-pin power connectors. Older power supplies only allow you to plug in the 4-pin connectors.
The 4-pin DC power connector is designed to mate with AMP part 1-480424 (using AMP pins P/N 350078-4). Equivalent connectors may
be used. Pin assignments are shown below, viewed from the end of the drive.
