Chief Administrative Officer

Phillip Duncan is the Chief Administrative Officer at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) and is a 13-year veteran of the hard disk drive industry.

With more than 24 years of human resources experience in technology companies, Mr. Duncan oversees Hitachi GST’s worldwide human resource function, including staffing levels and management structure. He has responsibility for organizational design and development, resource planning, and compensation and benefits.

Mr. Duncan brings diverse organizational and international experience in corporate environments, ranging from start-ups to companies with more than $4 billion in annual revenue. He has successfully led merger and acquisition processes from their earliest stages through integration, and was an integral part of a leadership team at Maxtor that went through a major restructuring and recovery, followed by a successful IPO.

Immediately before joining Hitachi GST, Mr. Duncan led his own consulting firm, Duncan Associates, providing HR consulting services to a variety of companies in organizational design and development, merger and acquisition, performance management, and strategic compensation. Previously, he served as executive vice president of Human Resources and Real Estate for Maxtor for nine years, and also worked at Cirrus Logic, SyQuest and Avantek.

Mr. Duncan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce from Santa Clara University.
