“G-Tech is dedicated to supporting the professional creative community and independent cinema around the world. We’ve been heavily engaged in supporting the U.S. 2010 Sundance Film Festival, and I’m delighted that we are extending this involvement and support closer to the filmmaking community here in Europe,” said Steve Pereira, general manager, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Europe. “We are proud to be part of the changing world of cinematography, helping to encourage a new wave of filmmaking through the supply of fast and affordable storage solutions. We understand filmmakers’ process and their drive to push creativity and production beyond the limits. The ECU is a great opportunity for us to expand our reach with this community and help increase the vitality of independent film along with the success of its talented creators.”
Scott Hillier , É CU’s 2010 president and Academy Award honoured independent filmmaker, said: “ We promote the very best of independent filmmaking talent at the festival. For the many aspiring and established film professionals within our É CU community, it’s vitally important to have the support of reliable and accessible technology such as G-Tech. That’s why G-Technology by Hitachi is a perfect choice as a platinum sponsor of É CU.”
Held at the Cinema Le Grand Action in Paris, the É CU’s programme will include the screening of nearly 100 independent films chosen from 13 categories. Attendees include the general public seeking alternatives to the offerings of major studios, along with agents, talent scouts, production company representatives, distributors and established producers.
G-Tech’s activity at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival included a sponsorship with award-winning actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his global collaborative multimedia production company, hitRECord.org. Together, they developed a full-service multimedia recording studio complete with audio/video editing suites, cameras, microphones and projectors using G-Tech storage solutions. Both hitRECord’s online community and Sundance attendees worked together in real-time to record and remix each other’s video, writing, music, photography and anything else into creating a cohesive, short multimedia works, which showcased at an official Sundance screening.
